It is located in North America between Canada and Mexico. With an estimated population of over 320 million people it is the world’s third most populous nation after China and India. The capital city is Washington D.C., while its largest city by population is New York City with 8 million inhabitants; Los Angeles follows closely behind with 3.8 million residents – making them two of the most populated cities on Earth respectively . The U.S has been inhabited for thousands of years by indigenous peoples including Native Americans who were later supplanted by immigrants from Europe during colonialization starting in 1607, when English settlers arrived at Jamestown Virginia via boat from England which was then part of Great Britain.. After gaining independence from British rule following the Revolutionary War in 1783 ,the new country adopted its current constitution in 1789 creating a unified government that would eventually go on to become one of the world’s leading economic powers within just over 200 years since then ,encompassing all aspects ranging from technology industry finance entertainment media etc ..
