Tiger Woods (born December 30, 1975) is an American professional golfer who is among the most successful golfers of all time. He has been one of the highest-paid athletes in the world for several years. Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers in history and his accomplishments have led to him being inducted into both the World Golf Hall of Fame and PGA Tour Hall of Fame.

Woods was born in Cypress, California, to Earl and Kultida Woods and raised there by his mother after his parents divorced when he was two years old. His father played a major role in developing Tiger’s passion for golf from a young age; at eight months old Tiger took his first swing with help from Earl on television show That’s Incredible! From that point onward he developed rapidly under guidance from Hank Haney, eventually becoming one of the best players ever seen before turning professional at age 20 in 1996. During this period Tiger won three consecutive US Amateur titles (1994–1996), setting numerous records along the way such as youngest winner ever aged 18 at Augusta National Golf Club Masters Tournament (1997).
