Donald Trump Rallies Supporters in Waco to Fight Potential Charges

Donald Trump plans to hold a rally in the city of Waco, Texas on Saturday. Even though he might face criminal charges, he wants to show that he is powerful. This same city became famous because people resisted the police which resulted in some deaths.

Next month, the former president is going to visit an airport in Waco which is the same place where 30 years ago a tragedy happened. The Branch Davidians (a religious cult) had a compound there and law enforcement tried to raid it, but it resulted in a shootout that lasted 51 days before ending with a big bad fire that killed many people.

President Trump is having a rally and he has been saying things that may have upset some people. His words are very similar to what he said before the attack on the US Capitol building by some people who supported him. This has never happened in the history of America – a former president facing criminal charges.

Donald Trump asked who would have the power to accuse a former President and a Presidential candidate of committing a crime, even though it is obvious that they did not do anything wrong. He thought this decision has potential to harm America greatly if made wrongly.

Trump didn’t pick the spot for his rally because of what happened in Waco years ago, but because it was close to some big cities like Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. It’s also able to fit a lot of people, since it has the right type of infrastructure.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung said this is an ideal location for their rally because a lot of people from different parts of the state and nearby states can come here. McLennan County, where the city is located, had voted for Trump in 2020 by more than 23 points. The airport where the rally will be held is located 17 miles away from the Branch Davidian compound.

People had already started planning for a rally before it became clear that a group of important people in New York were making their way to potentially accuse someone. That someone is Donald Trump, and the accusations are about money he allegedly gave to women who said they had a special relationship with him while he was running for president in 2016. He has denied these women’s claims.

This timing will give President Trump a chance to show how popular he still is with the Republican Party and make himself look like a target of an unfair “witch hunt” as he campaigns for his second term in office.

A grand jury researching the quiet payment will meet again on Monday in New York.

For weeks now, Trump has been criticizing the investigation. Last Saturday, he stated that he would be arrested the next Tuesday which was likely meant to excite his most supportive fans. Although that didn’t happen, Trump has used in recent days to try and change people’s ideas by saying the Manhattan district attorney’s office had gone into “complete chaos”, even though there was no proof of this being true.

The former president is using a technique that he has used before and one of them was during an investigation called the Mueller’s Russia probe. President Trump has also begun insulting the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg in different ways by referring to him as bad for our country and with racial slurs.

On Thursday, President Trump tried to link Manhattan’s first African-American district attorney, Bragg, with George Soros, a wealthy donor who doesn’t know Bragg and hasn’t donated to him. The president called Bragg a “Soros backed animal” and called the current legal system as an equivalent of the Gestapo (an organization in Nazi Germany). He also shared an article that included a picture of him taking aim at Bragg while swinging a baseball bat.

The former president asked people to protest and take the nation back last Saturday. On Thursday, he said our country is being destroyed even though we are trying to be peaceful. On Friday, a letter with a questionable powdery substance was found in a mailroom at Bragg’s offices but authorities said it wasn’t dangerous.

Last Saturday, the office of Mr Bragg sent a message to staff saying that they won’t accept any threats against their office or any attempts to break the law in New York. After someone put powder in the office on Friday, Mr Bragg sent another email to reassure staff that their safety was the most important thing. He also said that they should continue doing their job normally, following the law and being fair with everyone.

Before the rude letter was sent to Bragg, Democrats said that Trump’s words had the ability to cause trouble. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told us on Friday that Trump “is making bad comments and if he keeps doing this, it will get somebody hurt”.

Donald Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid $130,000 to the porn actor Stormy Daniels right when Trump was running for president in 2016. Later on, Donald Trump repaid Cohen and his company said it was a legal expense. Cohen got convicted and served time in prison due to charges related to the campaign finance law plus lying to Congress.

President Trump is having a tough time at the moment. The government in Georgia are investigating him because he tried to change the results from the 2020 election. There are also federal investigations into his use of secret documents and if he tried to interfere with anything, as well as what happened on January 6th.
