Taliban Leader Claims Women in Afghanistan Enjoy a “Comfortable and Prosperous Life”

According to Akhundzada’s Eid message, concrete measures have been taken to alleviate traditional oppressions faced by women, such as forced marriages. He claimed that the Shariah rights of women have been safeguarded, and necessary steps have been implemented to provide them with a comfortable and prosperous life, all in accordance with Islamic principles.

Recent developments indicate that Akhundzada has become more involved in shaping domestic policies. This has resulted in the prohibition of girls’ education beyond the sixth grade and severe restrictions on Afghan women’s public life and employment, particularly within non-governmental organizations and the United Nations.

The message, disseminated in Arabic, Dari, English, Pashto, and Urdu, also addressed the negative aspects of the 20-year occupation, mentioning the wearing of the hijab and what Akhundzada referred to as “misguidance.” He claimed that these issues would soon be resolved.

The message from Akhundzada also included a condemnation of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and a plea to the people and government of Sudan to reconcile their differences and work together for unity and brotherhood.
