Gunfire erupted at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs on Christmas Eve, resulting in one fatality and injuries to three individuals, according to the police’s statement on Sunday.

The incident unfolded during the afternoon when a confrontation ensued between two distinct groups of people. Subsequently, the Colorado Springs Police Department received reports of gunshots and promptly responded.

At the scene, one adult male was discovered deceased with a gunshot wound, while two others, each sustaining at least one gunshot wound, were transported to hospitals in serious condition. Additionally, a female was taken to a hospital, reportedly with minor injuries.

The authorities have taken into custody “multiple individuals” and are currently investigating their potential involvement in the incident.

As a precautionary measure, the mall was evacuated and subsequently closed. Thankfully, there is no known ongoing threat to the community.
