New York Jets

The New York Jets are a professional American football team based in the New York metropolitan area. The franchise is a member of the National Football League (NFL) and competes as part of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The club was founded in 1959 as one of two expansion teams, along with their fellow AFL counterparts, the Oakland Raiders. They play their home games at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and have won one Super Bowl championship – Super Bowl III which was held January 12th 1969 against NFL champion Baltimore Colts by score 16-7 .

The history of the Jets began when Harry Wismer purchased an AFL charter for $25,000 on August 14th 1959. He then established his own team known as ‘the Titans’. However due to financial difficulties faced during this time period it became apparent that he would be unable to sustain operations so majority ownership fell into hands of five men: Sonny Werblin, Leon Hess , Townsend Martin , Don Lillis and Phil Iselin who not only changed name from “Titans” to “Jets,” but also moved them out from Manhattan’s Polo Grounds to Shea Stadium located Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Queens county NY where they played until 1983 season after which they move again out this time across Hudson River settling down east side Meadowlands Sports Complex building brand new stadium Giants Stadium now known today under name MetLifeStadium shared with other local rivals “NewYorkGiants” forming first ever stadium share between two franchises both hosting ten home games each year since 2010 season onwards; making easier transition process moving back forth between venues due heavy traffic congestion surrounding those areas .
