Dolphins’ Holland calls MetLife Stadium turf ‘trash’ after teammate Phillips injures Achilles tendon

Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert, who previously played for the San Francisco 49ers, recalled his 2020 injury on the previous MetLife Stadium turf. Additionally, he noted that former teammates Solomon Thomas and Nick Bosa suffered season-ending injuries on that same surface. Mostert emphasized that most players prefer natural grass due to its flexibility, as turf can limit movement and lead to severe injuries.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel didn’t provide an immediate update on Phillips’ condition but expressed concerns, stating, “It doesn’t look great,” and the team is preparing for the “worst-case scenario.”

Phillips himself, in a message shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), indicated that he anticipates a season-ending injury but remained resolute, saying, “Absolutely devastated, but I feel strength in knowing that this is all a part of God’s plan, and that I have an incredible team and support system around me. I’ll be back stronger than ever. Fins up.”
