Founded in 1879, the Wolverines have won or shared 44 conference championships and 11 national championships, including seven Big Ten Conference titles. They also have made 28 bowl appearances with an all-time record of 17 wins and 11 losses.

The current head coach for the Wolverine’s Football Team is Jim Harbaugh who was hired on December 30th 2014 after their previous coach Brady Hoke resigned following four seasons at helm. Under Harbaugh’s leadership, they had three consecutive ten win seasons from 2015 to 2017 along with two Orange Bowl appearances in 2016 & 2018 respectively along with one Cotton Bowl appearance during 2017 season which resulted them being ranked as high as 7th nationally by Coaches Poll & AP poll respectively during this span.
Michigan has produced some of the greatest players ever to play College Football such as Tom Harmon (1940 Heisman Trophy Winner), Desmond Howard (1991 Heisman Trophy Winner) & Charles Woodson (1997 Heisman Trophy winner). In addition to these individuals many others went on to be drafted into NFL teams like Steve Hutchinson (#17 overall pick 2001 Draft), Braylon Edwards (#3 Overall Pick 2005 Draft) among others making it evident why they are known as “Linebacker U” due to their ability produce high quality talent year after year throughout history
