Jonathan Majors

Jonathan Majors (born August 28, 1987) is an American actor. He is best known for his work in films such as Hostiles (2017), The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019), and Da 5 Bloods (2020). He also starred alongside Michael B. Jordan and Jurnee Smollett-Bell in the HBO television series Lovecraft Country.

Early Life & Career

Born Jonathan Dwight Majors, he was raised by his mother who worked as a teacher to support him while growing up on their farm near Natchez, Mississippi. After graduating from high school he attended Alcorn State University where he studied theatre arts before transferring to New York University Tisch School of the Arts where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with distinction of honoris causa magna cum laude.

In 2016 Majors made his feature film debut playing Robert E Lee on the western movie Hostiles starring Christian Bale which received critical acclaim at Sundance Film Festival and eventually won awards like Best Cinematography at National Board of Review Awards that same year . In 2019 ,he co-starred alongside Jimmie Fails and Danny Gloverin Joe Talbot’s critically acclaimed drama The Last Black Man in San Francisco for which he garnered multiple award nominations including Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male Actor category among others . Later that year ,Majors had another breakthrough role when appeared opposite Forest Whitaker and Paul Bettany on Antoine Fuqua’s horror/western reboot The Magnificent Seven remake . His performance was highly praised by critics becoming one of most sought after actors during this period due to his ability portray diverse characters within various genres ranging from comedy drama to action thrillers leading several directors approach him roles future projects ..
