Damar Hamlin by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 62 Damar Hamlin (born April 8, 1998) is an American football safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Pitt and was drafted by the Steelers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Early life and high school career Hamlin grew up in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania where he attended Sto-Rox High School. As a senior, he had three interceptions and earned Class A All-State honors from PennLive.com as well as first team all conference recognition from his district coaches after recording 60 tackles and six pass breakups on defense while hauling 11 receptions for 125 yards with two touchdowns on offense. In addition to playing football, Hamlin competed in track & field events such as long jump during his time at Sto-Rox HS before graduating early to enroll at The University of Pittsburgh who offered him a full scholarship prior to signing day 2015. College career During his four years with Pitt Panthers’ program Damar accumulated 137 total tackles including 4 sacks throughout 38 games along with 7 passes defended resulting into 2 INTs which both came off redshirt junior season last year when he led squad’s secondary unit that helped secure Panther’s ACC Coastal Division Championship title plus spot within Sun Bowl against Stanford Cardinal side being named honorable mention All ACC selection same season .
