Damar Hamlin, safety for the Buffalo Bills football team, is back in action and has joined in the team’s voluntary workout program. This is amazing news since four months ago he had to be resuscitated when he went into cardiac arrest during a game against Cincinnati. He is totally cleared by doctors which means he can perform safely again. The Bills’ General Manager Brandon Beane said that Damar is doing really well mentally and super ready to return to playing!

Hamlin went to three different doctors on Friday and they were all in agreement that he is safe to play without worrying about any possible issues. The Bills had their head athletic trainer overseeing these meetings with the specialists, but ultimately, the team followed what the specialists said.

Beane said that the kid he is talking about and his family are great. He was struggling before but now things are getting better and soon we will read a new success story about him.

Many were shocked when they saw Bills safety, Hamlin, collapse during a nationally televised “Monday Night Football” game. For Beane, it was even more personal. While the rest of the team returned home after their game got canceled, Beane stayed with Hamlin for four days straight – even in his hospital room when he woke up from a coma at the Cincinnati Medical Center.

“It always has been and will continue to be about his health,” Beane said. “I’m very happy for him that months later he is finally completely healthy again. I’m excited for him and his family as they have made it through this journey together.”

During a Jan. 2 game against the Bengals, Hamlin was involved in what seemed to be an ordinary tackle, yet he collapsed shortly after. Seeing this, NFL players and people from other parts of North America started making donations to charity that Hamlin runs – these donations reached over 9 million dollars.

A football player fromMcKee’s Rock (Pittsburgh’s suburb) was injured and had to go to two different hospitals; Cincinnati and Buffalo. After he was released, the player came back to his team’s facility and watched them play in their divisional round playoffs match against Cincinnati which they unfortunately lost 10-27.

Recently, NFL player Hamlin made a lot of trips and even met President Biden! In February, he was presented with a special award from the NFLPA called the Alan Page Community Award at Super Bowl festivities. He also participated in a ceremony where the NFL thanked all the first responders who took care of him when he got injured.
