The Big Ten Conference is an American collegiate athletic conference that includes 14 member institutions in the United States, with 11 located in the Midwest and three additional members from Pennsylvania. The Big Ten Conference was established on February 8th, 1896 as the Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives. It is one of two Division I conferences which sponsor football at this level.

History
The original seven members were University of Chicago, Purdue University, University of Illinois, Northwestern University, University of Michigan ,University Of Minnesota and Ohio State university . In 1912 indiana university joined to make it eight teams league..In 1917 michigan state university added to strengthen its position..in 1990 pennsylvania state unversity also came into picture…and later on rutgers(2014) nebrasa(2011) md(2014).total fourteen universities are now partof big ten conferece…

Competition
The Big 10 sponsors 28 official sports: baseball; men’s basketball; women’s basketball; men’s cross country running; field hockey ;football ;men’s golf ;women’s gymnastics ;men’s ice hockey; women’s lacrosse (added 2019); rowing (added 2020); soccer ;softball;; swimming & diving ;;tennis;; track & field.; wrestling . All these games are played among all other participating schools within the conference for a chance to compete for championship titles each year. Since 2015-16 season there has been a round robin format implemented where every school plays against each other once per season in both regular season play and postseason tournaments such as NCAA Basketball Tournament or Football Bowl Series Championship Games. This structure ensures parity among all teams while providing maximum exposure to potential recruits who may attend any given game throughout yearlong competitions.

Revenue Sharing
As stated before ,the BIG TEN generates significant revenue through television contracts with ESPN/ABC Sports networks plus CBS Sports Network (CBSSN), broadcast rights fees from FOX Sports Go app streamings etc., team apparel merchandise sales etc,.All profits generated by TV broadcasts are shared equally between 12 full-time members after deducting expenses incurred during production process like crew salaries,,travel costs etc,. For example:- If ABC pays $100 million dollars annually then $8 million will be divided equally between twelve Universities resulting net income around 660k per institution yearly basis when calculated mathematically considering operational costs involved directly or indirectly for broadcasting purpose ets…

Conclusion
Big Ten can be considered most successful college athletics organization across USA due their decade long strategic planning involving up gradation technology wise alongwith adding new blood via expansion activities helping them keep pace with ever changing trends regarding requirements needed stay competitive world stage today….
