Former Vice President Mike Pence was required to tell the truth in front of a federal court on Thursday, about what Donald Trump and his supporters tried to do after the 2020 Presidential Election. Someone who knows this situation well gave this information.

Vice President Pence recently spoke to a group of people in Washington who were investigating what exactly happened in the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and he could tell them about certain conversations and events from weeks before. This situation has big political implications because Vice President Pence might run for president in 2024 against Trump, who is likely the Republican frontrunner.

An appeals court has denied former President Donald Trump’s request to prevent Mike Pence from testifying before a grand jury about the events of January 6th. A source confirmed that Pence believes Trump endangered his family on that day. This news came shortly after the secret order was given by a federal appeals court.

Earlier this year, Trump’s lawyers asked the court to stop Pence from appearing as a witness. However, the judge said that Pence could not be forced to answer questions related to his role in certifying the votes on Jan. 6.

Pence said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” that he will follow all of the rules and speak truthfully when telling his story from his memoir. This is the same story he has been sharing with people around America.

It was not obvious what Vice President Pence told the grand jury, but he is one of the most important people in President Trump’s team to be asked to come before the panel. High security was present throughout the day near the U.S. Capitol because Pence had arrived for his appearance at a Federal building close by.

Pence has spoken a lot about how President Trump tried to make him not accept the fact that Joe Biden won the election. Pence is the Vice President, and he had a special role in counting the votes of the people who voted for Biden. However, VP Pence didn’t have any power to change this result even though Trump said differently.

Mike Pence, an ex-governor and congressman, said that Donald Trump put him and all the people who were at Capitol Hill in danger on that day. History will hold Trump responsible.

Pence wrote that they had a good collaboration during their White House years but it did not end up well.

When news of Pence’s grand jury hearing came out, Donald Trump did not refer to it while he was speaking in New Hampshire.

The lawyers for Pence tried to stop the court from forcing him to testify about what happened on January 6th by citing something called the ‘speech or debate’ clause in the Constitution. This clause is there to protect members of Congress and keep them from having to answer questions about official things they do as part of their job.

A court allowed Jack Smith, the Justice Department person in charge of the investigation, to interview and ask questions from important people who used to work with Trump like Pat Cipollone and Stephen Miller. The judge limited Smith’s questioning though so that he wouldn’t have too much power in his job.

Special Counsel Smith is investigating President Trump to see if he mishandled secret documents at his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago, or tried to block the investigation. It’s not known when this will finish or who might be charged due to it. People from Washington, D.C., and Manchester, New Hampshire were involved in creating this report.
