Legal Representatives for Individual Accused of Murdering Two Indiana Teens Argue Ritualistic Sacrifice was Cause of Death

In recent court filings, the legal counsel for a man residing in northern Indiana who is facing charges for the murder of two adolescent girls, argues that their client is innocent, suggesting instead that the victims died due to a ritualistic sacrifice.

Attorneys Andrew Baldwin and Brad Rozzi, who are representing Richard Allen of Delphi, Indiana, asserted in a comprehensive 136-page document that the deceased girls, 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German, were victims of a ritual killing perpetrated by affiliates of a pagan Norse faith and white nationalist organization identified as Odinists.

Furthermore, the legal team has submitted a request for a hearing with the intention of presenting evidence that questions the legitimacy of the search warrant executed on Allen’s residence, arguing it was founded on inadequate probable cause and thus should be invalidated.

According to the document submitted by the defense, “Members of an esoteric Norse faith, co-opted by white nationalist elements and known as Odinism, are responsible for the ritualistic execution of Abigail Williams and Liberty German.” The filing explicitly maintains, “There is no evidence whatsoever connecting Richard Allen with Odinism or any such religious sect.”

The defense also contends that two distinct Odinist groups—one from Delphi and another from Rushville, Indiana—were subject to investigation for their alleged involvement in the murders. The attorneys cite the discovery of multiple ritualistic symbols at the crime scene, as well as the specific positioning of Liberty German’s body, as pertinent elements of their argument.

The office of the Carroll County prosecutor has not yet responded to inquiries seeking comments on the assertions made by the defense.

The deceased teenagers were discovered near the Monon High Bridge on February 14, 2017. Autopsy reports confirm that the victims had sustained fatal stab wounds. An FBI agent, in a search warrant application submitted in March 2017, posited that the bodies of the girls appeared to have been deliberately repositioned post-mortem at the scene of the crime.

The defense’s filings highlight the possibility of “Odinism-specific signatures,” such as ritual symbols found at the crime scene, but allege that investigators subsequently disregarded this line of inquiry. Additionally, the legal counsel for Allen has listed multiple individuals as potential suspects who have not yet been formally charged.

The victims had been last seen alive after a family member dropped them off for a hike near the Monon High Bridge, which is situated approximately 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Indianapolis, close to their hometown of Delphi. Their bodies were recovered the following day in a remote, densely forested region near the trail.

Richard Allen has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges laid against him.

The deaths have left an indelible mark on the community of Delphi, a small city with a population around 3,000, where Richard Allen was both a resident and an employee at a local pharmacy.
