Vietnam by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 63 Vietnam (Vietnamese: Việt Nam, [vîət nāːm]), officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Vietnamese: Cộng hòa Xã hội Chủ nghĩa Việt Nam) is a country in Southeast Asia. It shares land borders with China to the north, and Laos and Cambodia to the west. To its east lies the South China Sea; across it are Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and several other countries. With an estimated 96 million inhabitants as of 2020,[1] Vietnam is one of the most populous nations in East Asia.[2][3] Its capital city has been Hanoi since 1945.[4] The ancient Vietnamese nation was heavily influenced by Chinese culture before gaining independence from Imperial China during 938 AD after nearly 1000 years of domination under successive dynasties such as Han Dynasty[5], Tang Dynasty[6], Song Dynasties etc., while maintaining strong ties throughout history with other regional powers like Japan[7]. After being colonized by French Indochina for more than 80 years till 1954 represented by two wars : Franco-Chinese war(1884–85)[8]and First Indochina War (1946–54)[9], followed later on by American intervention during Second indochina War also known as Vietnam War which resulted into serious economic downturn , political instability leading to civil unrest . But eventually gained victory over US forces resulting into reunification between North & South Vietnams finally ending with Communist party rule . Subsequently facing severe international isolation due to its communist government but gradually adopting wide range Reforms including Doi Moi policy initiated in 1986 alongwith increased foreign investment & trade allowed them stand back up again making it one among fastest growing economies globally today . Presently having population density near 300 people per square Kilometer rendering it 4th highest densely populated Asian country after Bangladesh , India & Pakistan respectively ; This tropical country covers total area 330K Square kilometers surrounded mainly coastal lowlands ,central highland mountains covered mostly forested areas providing valuable resources plus important biodiversity hotspots home too many endangered species around world In terms of economy majorly depends upon exports manufacturing services contributing significant portion within GDP growth rate supported well through developing infrastructure network allowing easy transportation accessiblity enhancing tourism sector giving boost towards modernizing whole region fostering various cultural exchanges amongst neighboring states while staying true their own uniqueness strengthening identity worldwide Incorporated within United Nations organization since 20 September 1977 currently recognized 191 member states committed working together promoting peace progress stability security human rights prosperity development global cooperation all levels
