Trees

Trees are a group of woody plants that make up the Plantae Kingdom. They have been around for millions of years, dating back to the Carboniferous period in Earth’s history. The oldest known tree is approximately 5,000 years old and located in Norway.

Trees can be found all over the world, from tropical rainforests to arid deserts. Trees come in many different shapes and sizes ranging from small shrubs to large sequoias which can reach heights of 300 feet tall or more! Tree leaves vary greatly between species with some being evergreen while others lose their foliage during winter months; each type plays an important role in providing food and shelter for wildlife as well as helping regulate climate by taking carbon dioxide out of the air and releasing oxygen into it through photosynthesis.

Most trees are divided into two main types based on how they reproduce: angiosperms (flowering) or gymnosperms (non-flowering). Angiosperm trees produce flowers that contain both male and female reproductive parts while gymnosperm trees use cones instead with male pollen fertilizing female ovules within them. Both types offer a variety of uses including producing food such as apples or nuts, providing shade/shelter from extreme weather conditions like wind/rain storms, acting as natural habitat for animals like birds & squirrels etc., supplying building materials for homes & furniture making etc., controlling erosion by stabilizing soil particles with their roots systems& capturing pollutants before reaching waterways via absorption processes involving bark layers on trunks & branches respectively .

Trees also play an integral part in maintaining global biodiversity due to their ability absorb CO2 emissions released by human activities thus reducing greenhouse gases effects linked directly associated climate change phenomena happening across our planet today. Additionally they help protect watersheds since decaying organic matter provides essential nutrients needed sustaining aquatic life living there too! Finally many cultures consider these giant green organisms sacred symbols representing renewal growth strength wisdom peace among other things so no wonder why people around globe continue planting replanting them everyday despite challenges posed destroying deforestation efforts either commercial agricultural purposes reasons simply just build cities expansion developments sake…
