San Francisco by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 92 San Francisco is a major city in northern California, United States of America. It is the 13th most populous city in the U.S., with an estimated population of 883,305 people as of 2019 and over 4 million residents within its metropolitan area. Located on the West Coast at the north end of San Francisco Bay, it is known for its diverse culture, vibrant arts scene and beautiful natural landscape that includes rolling hills rising above steep valleys to form dramatic cliffs along much of its rugged coastline. The city was founded by Spanish colonists in 1776 following Spain’s colonization mission into what are now part of Mexico and California; however Native Americans had lived there since before European contact (the Ohlone tribe). The Gold Rush era beginning around 1848 changed San Francisco from a small village to one of the largest cities on North American coastlines during that time period – making it home to large numbers immigrants from all over Europe and Asia seeking their fortunes or just looking for work opportunities throughout Californian industry during this era. This created a multi-cultural melting pot which still defines modern day life here today – you can find restaurants serving food from almost every region/country around world!
