The executive branch is headed by a governor who serves as both head of state and chief executive officer, while the legislative body consists of two chambers: a Senate composed of 50 members; and a House with 203 representatives. The judiciary comprises six appellate courts—the Supreme Court (the highest court in Pennsylvania), Superior Court, Commonwealth Court, Courts Of Common Pleas (which hold original jurisdiction over criminal matters) —and magisterial district judges which have limited jurisdiction to hear minor civil disputes or misdemeanors cases such as traffic offences or summary offenses like disorderly conduct . All justices are appointed for 10-year terms by the Governor from nominees chosen on merit basis following recommendations from bipartisan Judicial Nomination Commissions made up mostly lawyers but also citizens knowledgeable about judicial selection process.. Taxation falls under authority granted to counties administered through local boards set up within each county created in 1790’s when constitution was written., Both federal & state governments levy taxes., Federal income tax collected jointly with IRS , while PA’s personal income tax rate varies between 3- 4 % dependent upon taxable salary/income level , sales taxes 6%(except Allegheny County 7%), inheritance & estate levies vary depending on relationship status /amount inherited etc .. Corporations must pay corporate net income tax at 9.99 percent maximum along with capital stock franchise fee based upon total assets size -all these revenues fund range services provided throughout commonwealth including education healthcare public safety infrastructure environmental protection human services military & veterans affairs after being allocated amongst different departments . Other organizations include Office Of Inspector General overseeing other agencies performance ; Independent Regulatory Review Commission responsible for reviewing proposed regulations issued by various Executive Agencies before they become law ; Public Utility Commission regulating utilities providing gas water electricity telephone cable transit rates charged customers among others plus Administrative Law Judges handling appeals related grievances around enforcement actions taken against violators breach codes laws rules regulations etc … Pennsylvanians elect their US Senators every 6 years one third senate seats voted during even numbered years remainder next 2 yrs so all 3 can be elected same time if desired e g 2018 saw Sen Bob Casey Jr reelected alongside new senator electing president pro tempore Joe Scarnati III Majority Leader Jake Corman vice chair Pat Browne then speaker Mike Turzai majority leader Bryan Cutler minority leader Frank Dermody completing leadership team going into 2020 election cycle…
