Oman by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 73 Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, is an Arab country located in Southwest Asia on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders Saudi Arabia to its west and Yemen to its southwest. The country has a strategic location at the mouth of Strait of Hormuz which links it to Indian Ocean. The land area consists mostly desert with some mountains in north-west part; fertile coastal plain along Arabian Sea in south-east side; and barren interior plateau broken by several mountain ranges like Hajar Mountains on northern border with United Arab Emirates (UAE). Majority population lives near coast due resources available there such as fish and pearls while Bedouin tribes inhabit inner regions or deserts around cities like Muscat or Salalah.
