Nebraska by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 77 Nebraska is a state located in the Midwestern United States, bordered by South Dakota to the north; Iowa to the east and Missouri to the southeast, both across the Missouri River; Kansas to the south; Colorado to the southwest; and Wyoming to the west. It is composed of two major land regions: The Dissected Till Plains and The Great Plains. Its area is just over 77,220 square miles (200,000 km2) with almost 1.9 million people. It is divided into 93 counties with its capital being Lincoln. The Nebraska Territory was created in 1854 from part of former territories acquired through treaties between Native American tribes and representatives of some governments but most notably from France as part of Louisiana Purchase that occurred on April 30th 1803 . On March 1st ,1867 it became 37th US State when President Andrew Johnson signed an act which made Nebraska officially become apart of union after a long period if debate regarding slavery issue since this new addition would make slave states majority in Congress . In recent years ,it has seen notable growth mainly due their thriving economy based mostly on agriculture but also services sector like telecommunications or tourism industry thanks largely due its numerous historical sites such as Chimney Rock National Historic Site near Bayard [1] or Scotts Bluff National Monument near Gering[2]. Notable roads include I-80 which runs through entire length while other important routes are U S Highway 6 & 34 running along Platte river valley connecting eastern parts with western ones plus several railroad lines crossing all directions making transportation easier for goods distribution not only within borders but outside them too either towards neighboring states or further away locations providing jobs related directly ot indirectly with shipping industry thus helping circulation throughout region improving overall economic situation even more so than before .
