Music

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound organized in time. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness) as well as the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions through improvisational pieces to aleatoric forms such as noise music. There are many types or genres of music ranging from popular forms such as rock & roll to traditional folk songs that have been passed down for centuries.

Music has been around since antiquity with examples being found in every known culture throughout history including Ancient Egypt where instruments were used in religious ceremonies along with dance performances while ancient Greeks created a systemized body of theory which included instructions on playing stringed instruments such as the lyre by their famous philosopher Pythagoras who also discovered mathematical properties within musical notes themselves. During Medieval times Gregorian Chants were sung by monks during church services however it was not until much later when composers began writing polyphonic works using multiple voices that classical Western Art Music became developed into what it is today which includes Baroque opera , Classical symphony orchestras , Romantic ballets etc .

In the 20th century there was a huge expansion in different styles due to technology advances allowing recording techniques like multi-track audio mixing whilst jazz evolved rapidly incorporating new sounds from various cultures creating fusion genres like funk , soul etc . In more recent years electronic methods such as sampling have allowed contemporary pop stars like Justin Bieber & Lady Gaga create huge hits outreaching millions across all ages demographics worldwide thanks largely due media platforms available today via streaming websites/applications making access easier than ever before !
