Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are a professional basketball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The franchise was founded as an expansion team in 1989 and plays its home games at the Target Center.

The Timberwolves have had moderate success since their inception, making the postseason eight times between 1997 and 2018 but failing to make it past the first round of the playoffs on each occasion. Their greatest successes came during Kevin Garnett’s tenure with the team from 1995–2007; led by Garnett, they achieved seven consecutive playoff appearances (1997-2004), posted six straight winning seasons (1998-2003) and reached a Western Conference Finals appearance in 2004. After his departure, however, they returned to mediocrity until Karl-Anthony Towns arrived in 2015: after going 31–51 for four straight years under Flip Saunders’ leadership (2013–16), they finished above .500 twice under Tom Thibodeau before missing out on post season contention again last year due to injury troubles.

As well as KG & Towns other notable players who have played for them include Wally Szczerbiak , Stephon Marbury , Latrell Sprewell , Jimmy Butler & Derrick Rose among others . In 2019 Andrew Wiggins became only one of two people ever drafted number 1 overall pick that has stayed with his original draft day NBA Team which is considered rare now days amongst free agency movement throughout all major sports leagues .

Since 2017 Glen Taylor has served as majority owner after purchasing 80% of shares from former owners Harvey Ratner and Marv Wolfenson ; while Gersson Rosas serves as head coach/ president of Basketball Operations since May 2019 replacing Ryan Saunders who previously held both roles following Thiobdeau’s firing earlier that year . Currently lead by All Star forwards KAT & D’Angelo Russell along side promising young prospects like Juancho Hernangomez Malik Beasley Josh Okogie Jarrett Culver Naz Reid Jaylen Nowel Treveon Graham etc…the Wolves hope to bring back consistency & relevancy within this storied organization soon !
