Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh (Chinese: 楊美蘭; born 6 August 1962) is a Malaysian-born Hong Kong actress and producer. She rose to fame in the 1990s with her roles in international films, including Police Story 3: Super Cop (1992), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000). She has also starred in several Chinese language films including The Soong Sisters (1997); Reign of Assassins(2010);The Lady(2011);and Crazy Rich Asians(2018).

Yeoh started her career as an action star portraying heroic characters on screen. Her popularity was such that she gained the nickname “Queen of Action”. Her martial arts skills have been featured prominently throughout many of her works, most notably showcased during fight scenes requiring intricate wire work. In 2003, she became the first Asian woman to be nominated for Best Actress at both Golden Globe Awards and BAFTA awards for Memoirs Of A Geisha alongside Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li and Suzuka Ohgo respectively.[1]

In recent years, Yeoh’s acting roles have expanded from action movies into more diverse genres. One example is when she co-starred opposite Daniel Craig as Bond Girl Wai Linin Tomorrow Never Dies .[2] Another notable role was playing Sulu’s mother helming a starship Enterprise 1701-Aas Captain Philippa Georgiouin Star Trek Discovery Series.[3][4] Additionally , Michelle won critical acclaim for starring as Eleanor YounginCrazy Rich Asians which grossed over $238 million globally [5].

Aside from film roles , Michelle has lent voice talents to video games such as Sleeping Dogs wherein players can control Wei Shen who shares his likeness with Yeoh’s character Inspector Ng Ka Lai [6].She had also appeared various TV shows like Touching Evil US Version whereshe plays FBI Agent Susan Branca[7], Strike Back Season 2 [8], Marco Polo season 1 & 2 where she portrays Empress Chi Yao aka “the Witch” . On top of that ,she recently signed up for Avatar Sequels directed by James Cameron set release date 2022 onwards – 2027[9].

Throughout her illustrious career spanning 30+ years across Asia Pacific region ;Michelle received numerous prestigious awards recognizingher contribution towards entertainment industry namely : Order Of Merit Malaysia award 2013 conferred upon by Prime Minister Najib Razak,[10]; Variety Magazine Power Of Women 2011 Award presented by Maria Shriver; Lifetime Achievement Award UBS Outstanding Achievements Gala 2017 etc.. For all these achievements combined it wasn’t until 2018 when TIME magazine namedMichelle one among 100 Most Influential people list along side Hollywood heavyweights Oprah Winfrey & Viola Davis [11]. As an entrepreneur herself having launched production company Mythical Films back year 2004 ;yeoh continues inspiring aspiring female entrepreneurs through story telling medium while promoting regional talent pool worldwide thus forging strong ties between East & West cultures alike .
