Matt Damon

Matt Damon (born October 8, 1970) is an American actor, producer and screenwriter. He is one of the highest-grossing actors of all time with over $3 billion in worldwide box office receipts to his name. He has won multiple awards throughout his career, including Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor for Good Will Hunting (1997). His other notable films include The Martian (2015), Saving Private Ryan (1998), The Departed (2006) and Interstellar(2014).

Early life

Matt Damon was born on October 8, 1970 in Cambridge Massachusetts to Kent Telfer Damon and Nancy Carlsson-Paige. He attended Harvard University from 1988–1992 but left before graduating to pursue a full-time acting career.

Career

In 1991 he landed a role as “Will” in Mystic Pizza alongside Julia Roberts which jumpstarted his acting career. Throughout the 1990s he starred in several successful movies such as Courage Under Fire , Good Will Hunting , Rounders .and Saving Private Ryan . During this period he also collaborated with Ben Affleck writing four scripts together -Good will hunting being their most successful script winning them an academy award..In 1998 they both appeared together again onscreen playing conjoined twins opposite Greg Kinnear in Stuck On You . Since then Matt’s filmography list includes many critically acclaimed movies like Ocean’s Eleven trilogy;The Bourne Identity franchise ;Syriana ;The Informant ! ;Invictus ;Contagion etc where he plays diverse characters ranging from scientists to CIA agents showcasing his versatile talent. In 2015 Matt got recognition when Ridley Scott’s movie ‘The Martian’ became a huge success at box offices grossing more than 630 million dollars worldwide & earning him nominations at Golden Globe Award & BAFTA Film Award for best lead actor category respectively Besides gaining fame through these big budget Hollywood productions matt has actively been involved with humanitarian works too since early 2000s working closely with organizations such as ONE Campaign; H2O Africa Foundation; Feeding America etc raising awareness about global issues such HIV/AIDS epidemic poverty hunger water shortage education disparity among others He also co founded Water dot org along side Gary White aiming towards providing clean drinking water access around world by 2020 Overall during past two decades matt has established himself strongly within entertainment industry receiving nomination or wins at almost every major award ceremonies besides inspiring people globally through charitable initiatives
