The country’s main economy relies on agriculture – mainly coffee beans which account for 60% of its exports – as well as forestry products such as mahogany wood. Other mineral resources include gold and silver deposits in western Honduras near San Juancito mountain range; iron ore mines near La Union; zinc deposits at Ocotepeque; lead found in Santa Barbara Department; petroleum discovered along the Gulf Coast of Gracias a Dios State; natural gas production from Yoro department fields located off-shore over Belize waters..
