Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton (born November 8, 1989) is an American professional baseball right fielder and designated hitter for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He began his career with the Miami Marlins in 2010 and was traded to the Yankees prior to the 2018 season. A four-time MLB All-Star, he has won two Hank Aaron Awards (2014 & 2017), a Silver Slugger Award (2017), and a National League Most Valuable Player award in 2017.

Stanton attended Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, California where he excelled at baseball but also played basketball, football, soccer and track during his high school years. As a senior outfielder on Verdugo’s baseball team he batted .393 with 10 home runs; earning him second place honors behind Carlos Santana of Crespi Carmelite High School for Los Angeles Times’ Southland Player of Year awards. After graduation from high school Stanton chose not to attend college instead signing as an undrafted free agent by then Florida Marlins scout Bob McGinnis who had watched him play since age 14.

In 2007 Stanton made his professional debut playing rookie ball with Gulf Coast Marlins before being promoted that same year to Single-A Greensboro Grasshoppers where upon joining them midway through their season hit 21 homers while batting .293/.372/.611 overall between both teams making it known early why scouts were so interested in Giancarlo’s potential power hitting ability. In 2008 while now playing full time at Class A Advanced Jupiter Hammerheads led all minor leaguers across all levels with 39 homeruns finishing third among league leaders despite missing almost half of June due to injury becoming one of just seven players ever under 20 years old achieve such feat thus far into modern era pro ball history..
