The Georgia Bulldogs football program is a college football team that represents the University of Georgia. The team competes in Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the Eastern division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They are currently coached by Kirby Smart, who took over for Mark Richt after his 15-year tenure ended at UGA.

History
Georgia’s first intercollegiate game was played on January 30th, 1892 against Mercer University. Since then, Georgia has gone on to become one of the most successful programs in all of NCAA history with 16 conference championships and two National Championships as well as producing three Heisman Trophy winners – Frank Sinkwich in 1942, Herschel Walker in 1982 and Charles McClendon “Charlie” Trippi in 1946. In addition to these accomplishments they have also won or shared 45 bowl games since 1937 including four Sugar Bowls (1942-43; 2002; 2007), two Cotton Bowls (1945 & 1959); five Peach Bowls (1959-60; 1981; 1983; 2011); six Liberty bowls(1960 & 1976–79); eight Gator/Sunshine State Classic/Outback bowls(1989–91&1998–2001); four Citrus bowls(1993-94 ; 1997 ; 2004 ; 2006 ); nine Chick Fil A Kickoff Games /Chick Fil A Peach Bown Classics/PeachBowl sicne 2008 . This includes their most recent victory over Baylor University 52 – 14in 2020 AllstateSugarBowl where Jake Fromm set an NCAA record for touchdown passes thrown during a postseason game with 4 TD passes en route to being named MVP aheadof D’Andre Swift’s rushing performance.

Traditions One prominent tradition associated with the Bulldogs is running through hedges at Sanford Stadium before each home game which started when former head coach Erk Russell brought back an old military tradition from World War II called “running throughthe gauntlet”. Another popular pregame ritual is singing “Glory Glory” while forming a large circle around midfieldwith players linking arms together prior to kickoff. Additionally fans typically stand up during third down conversionsand repeat calls such as ‘Go Dawgs’, ‘Gata,’ or other fan created chants throughout games held at Sanford stadium especiallyduring key moments like interceptions , sacksor touchdowns scored by either side.. After every win there Is usuallya small gathering outside Butts Meher Hall located near Stegeman Coliseum where several coaches will come out givetheir postgame speech followed shortly afterwards by thousands chanting “”How bout them dawgs?” Future Outlook Under Coach Kirby Smart more success appears likelyfor this powerhouse SEC progam As he continues building upon previous successes amassing topnotch recruiting classes yearafter year it looks like Bulldog faithful can expect even more wins trophies rings conferencedivision titles And possibly national championships addedto already impressive resume For years tocome .
