It regulates all aspects of civil aviation in America, including pilots, aircraft, airports and airspace. The FAA was established by Congress on August 23rd 1958 through the enactment of the Federal Aviation Act. Its primary mission is to “provide for safe and efficient air transportation.” The main responsibilities carried out by FAA include overseeing flight safety inspections, issuing pilot certifications, developing regulations governing commercial operations such as certification requirements for new aircraft models and establishing standards for airport design and construction. In addition to these activities they also provide research into technologies related to aviation safety such as satellite navigation systems or other advanced communication protocols that could be used in aircrafts. Additionally it provides government funding towards programs which are designed to promote innovation within this sector or enhance current capabilities like NextGen system which has been developed with a view to improving efficiency across domestic flights network via radar based traffic control system instead traditional ground-based one’s . The organization operates under five top level divisions: Air Traffic Organization; Flight Standards Service; Aircraft Certification Service; Safety Oversight & Regulation Group ;and Research Engineering & Development Office . Each division works independently from each other but collaboratively with each other when needed ensuring optimal performance throughout its services . As part of their efforts towards increasing global standardization ,they have entered agreements with multiple countries around world allowing them operate more efficiently while working together during international operations providing mutual assistance if required during any crisis situation With over 30 thousand members employed at various locations worldwide ,the agency itself has become an iconic symbol representing US’s commitment towards advancement in field of science & technology creating numerous opportunities both directly indirectly associated with industry growth making USA one leading nations when comes contributions made aeronautical engineering space
