Donatella Versace

Donatella Versace (born 2 May 1955) is an Italian fashion designer and businesswoman who has been the vice president, chief designer, and head of the Gianni Versace S.p.A company since 1997. She was born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy to father Antonio Versace, a dressmaker and mother FrancescaVersace-Lamazza . Donatella began her career working alongside her brother Gianni at his clothing label where she became creative director for Versus in 1989.

In 1994 after Gianni’s death from murder by Andrew Cunanan , she inherited all responsibility over production within the family business; this included overseeing design as well as managing finances with her older brother Santo Versace who took on executive roles such as CEO/President of their company until 2009 when he stepped down to focus solely on philanthropic activities while allowing Donatella full control over design decisions making it easier for her to implement bolder colors & prints into collections which helped distinguish them from other competitors amongst luxury brands during that era thus helping keep up with changing trends among consumers alike while keeping true essence of what made their brand so iconic..
