Denver

Denver is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Colorado. Located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of Rocky Mountains, Denver is nicknamed “the Mile-High City” because its official elevation is exactly one mile above sea level. The 105th meridian west (longitude) passes directly through Union Station, making it also a prime reference point for measuring longitude in North America; by many accounts, this meridian can be considered to form Denver’s true geographic center.

Founded as a mining town during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush on November 22nd 1858, Denver has become an important economic hub with several major corporations having their headquarters located here or nearby such as Frontier Airlines and Coors Brewing Company while being home to multiple professional sports teams including NFL’s Broncos and NBA’s Nuggets among others which are based at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium formerly known as Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium since 2001 when naming rights were sold along with other stadiums within Major League Baseball’s Rockies’ Coors Field opened in 1995 becoming MLB first stadium featuring natural grass playing surface that was not supported by air pressure rollers underneath like AstroTurf fields did until then revolutionizing baseball field design forever more so than ever before since opening day April 26th 1995 bringing baseball back into life after decades away from colorado due to relocation issues faced previously only few years prior following 1992 season birth year for expansion team leading up onto now 2021 still standing strong!
