Colorado by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 88 Colorado is a state located in the Western United States. It borders Wyoming to the north, Nebraska to the northeast, Kansas to the east, Oklahoma to the southeast, New Mexico to the south, Utah and Arizona on its western border as well as touching parts of five other states. Colorado has an elevation ranging from 3200 feet at sea level along its eastern plains up over 14000 feet near Mount Elbert which is one of 54 peaks that are above fourteen thousand feet (also known as “fourteeners”). The capital city of Denver lies just east of Boulder county and boasts a population close to three million people while there are many more who live elsewhere throughout “The Centennial State”. Colorado was admitted into union on August 1st 1876 making it 38th state in America. Although first inhabited by Native Americans for thousands years prior predominantly Ute or Apache tribes these were later displaced with white settlers moving through during gold rush era late 1800s. With discovery silver deposits Colorado quickly grew economically becoming important agricultural region home vast cattle ranches farming operations still seen today though industry now diversified including services high-tech manufacturing finance trade tourism hospitality industries etc.. State’s climate varies greatly depending location but generally follows dry continental pattern with snowfall winters mild summers Rockies provide relief some locations warm temperatures altitude effects . Areas west mountains experience higher amount precipitation often creating semiarid climates while mountain regions receive abundant rain snow supporting wide variety ecosystems such alpine meadows forests wetlands tundra grasslands numerous species plants animals birds fish mammal reptiles amphibians insects thrive here due diversity terrain varying altitudes temperature ranges . Of course famous Rocky Mountains traverse whole length providing picturesque scenery plenty recreational opportunities skiing hiking camping fishing river rafting climbing biking photography wildlife viewing nature sightseeing all enjoy outdoorsy visitors alike!
