College Football is a sport played in the United States and Canada. It is one of the most popular collegiate sports, with over 112 million viewers watching on television each week during the regular season. College football is an American tradition that began in 1869 when Rutgers University defeated Princeton University 6-4 in what was considered to be the first college football game. Since then, college football has evolved into a major spectator sport with numerous conferences and rivalries developing throughout its history.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulates all aspects of Division I FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision), formerly known as Division I A, college football play which includes rules governing team eligibility and recruiting practices among other things. The NCAA also sanctions bowl games including New Year’s Day Six bowls featuring post-season matchups between teams from different conferences or divisions within their respective leagues: Cotton Bowl Classic; Fiesta Bowl; Orange Bowl; Peach Bowl; Rosebowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual and SugarBowl presented by Allstate Insurance Company . The College Football Playoff selects four teams for post season play based on ranking system composed of human polls plus computer rankings used to determine who will compete for national title at end of season culminating in final championship game held every January since 2014 along side annual Heisman Trophy award ceremony honoring outstanding player contributions during year prior to recognition event hosted at PlayStation Theater NYC..
