Chris Cornell (July 20, 1964 – May 18, 2017) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist, primary songwriter and rhythm guitarist for Seattle rock band Soundgarden. He also had a successful solo career with albums such as Euphoria Morning (1999), Audioslave (2002) and Carry On (2007).

Cornell was born in Seattle on July 20th 1964 to parents Ed Boyle and Karen Cornell. His mother worked at a bank while his father owned several local businesses including a hairdressing salon and lumber company. During his childhood he struggled with dyslexia but still managed to excel academically by using music as an outlet for expression.

In 1984 Chris formed the Temple of The Dog project alongside members from what would later become Pearl Jam; this saw him gain recognition within the grunge scene of Seattle where he soon thereafter joined forces with bassist Hiro Yamamoto, drummer Matt Cameron & Kim Thayil to create Soundgarden in 1985 which rocketed him into fame after their debut album Ultramega OK released in 1988 achieved critical success along side other popular works such as Badmotorfinger(1991) & Superunknown(1994). After leaving Soundgarden due to creative differences he went onto pursue a solo career signing onto Interscope Records producing four studio albums between 1999-2009 before forming supergroup ‘Audioslave’ alongside former Rage Against The Machine members Tom Morello & Brad Wilks who released three studio albums together until 2007 when they disbanded due to personal issues; during this time however Cornell experimented further musically releasing two additional records titled Scream(2009) & Higher Truth(2015).

Throughout his extensive music career spanning over 30 years Chris sold more than 14 million records worldwide winning multiple awards including 4 Grammy Awards amongst others & has been praised by peers alike being inducted into both Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame With sound garden 2018 And Songwriters Hall Of Fame 2019 . Unfortunately on may 17th 2017 ,Chris took his own life aged 52 causing shockwaves throughout the industry inspiring many tribute concerts across America/UK involving numerous artists paying respects . To honor chris posthumously there have since then been multiple releases including live recordings from various shows accompanied By unreleased tracks most notably titling one release No One Sings Like You Anymore showcasing some of chris finest work .

Although gone too soon it’s safe say that through legacy lives on through countless fans all around world ensuring that legacy will never be forgotten
