The state government consists of three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. These consist of various agencies, departments, boards, commissions and bureaus that work together to ensure the citizens are represented in a fair manner while promoting public safety and welfare within the Golden State. Executive branch The executive branch is headed by Governor Gavin Newsom who serves a four-year term with unlimited reelections under Article 5 Section 8(b)of the Californian Constitution. He’s responsible for signing bills into law or vetoing them before they can become laws; he also appoints all members to certain cabinet positions such as Secretary Of State And Attorney General along with other roles like Supreme Court justices & Judges for inferior courts throughout California’s 58 counties . In addition to his role at head of Executive Branch ,the governor has responsibility over multiple departmental heads including Health Services (CalHSA), Education (CDOE), Transportation (Caltrans). Other important offices include Natural Resources Agency which oversees water rights & management issues related to air quality & environment protection programs; Labor Commission enforces minimum wage standards across CA ; Office Of Emergency services coordinates responses during natural disasters/emergencies . Finally there’s Franchise Tax Board tasked with collecting income taxes from individuals businesses alike operating within jurisdiction borders Legislative branch The Legislature comprises two houses: Assembly—whose 80 representatives have 2 year terms —and Senate– made up 40 senators serving 4 year terms each all elected by popular vote every even numbered years respectively under Article IV section 1a-1vii provisions set forth in constitution .. Members convene annually on January 6th Sacramento whereupon both houses come together pass new bills determine how money should be allocated among different sectors whether it be increased funding education health care etc..
