Books and literature by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 75 Books and literature are forms of written works that have been around for centuries. The earliest known form of writing was developed in Mesopotamia in the 4th millennium BC, although it is possible to find references to books and literature dating back as far as Ancient Egypt. These early pieces were usually inscribed on stone or clay tablets, but eventually paper became more widely used and allowed larger volumes of words to be stored at a lower cost. In ancient times, books often served religious purposes such as providing information about God or stories from the Bible. As time passed they began to include topics like philosophy, history, science and sociology which could help people understand their world better. During this period many great authors emerged who would go on to become renowned for their work including Homer (The Iliad & The Odyssey), Plato (The Republic) , Virgil (Aeneid) , Dante Alighieri (Divine Comedy), Geoffrey Chaucer(Canterbury Tales)and William Shakespeare(Romeo & Juliet). As societies advanced throughout the world so too did book production technology leading up until today when digital publishing has created an entirely new way for readers access content with services like Amazon Kindle offering millions of titles online in electronic format . Additionally there are now various methods through which one can engage with materials beyond just reading them such as audiobooks allowing listeners hear narrated versions while doing other activities simultaneously. There is also an increasing number who prefer physical copies due old-fashioned charm they provide despite added convenience offered by modern alternatives making sure traditionalists won’t ever lose touch completely either! Throughout all these changes we have seen over course human civilization however; one thing remains constant – love affair between our species its literary masterpieces will never die out no matter what technological advances come our way next century
