Alabama Crimson Tide football by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 70 The Alabama Crimson Tide football program represents the University of Alabama (also known as “Alabama”, or “UA”) in the sport of American football. The team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and is a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The head coach is Nick Saban, who has led them to national championships in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017. The Crimson Tide was founded in 1892 with its first game against Birmingham High School being held on November 11th that year. They have won 23 conference championships since their inception including 15 SEC titles and eight Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles from 1913-1932 when they were members of that league. Additionally they have won five Associated Press National Championships which are recognized by most polls as well as four College Football Playoff Titles making them one of only two schools to win multiple CFP crowns along with Clemson Tigers who also accomplished this feat twice before 2020 season began.. Their current home stadium is Bryant–Denny Stadium located on campus at Tuscaloosa, AL having been opened for play during 1929 season replacing Denny Field which served school’s needs until then following move away from Lakeview Park grounds after 1925 campaign ended there successfully despite numerous flooding issues due areas location near Black Warrior River basin area causing some games previously played there be moved elsewhere while playing surface remained unplayable at times depending upon rainfall severity throughout preceding weeks leading up each contest scheduled take place what now stands today’s famous college gridiron facility .
