San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama recounted an incident in which he believes Britney Spears grabbed him from behind as he entered a restaurant at a Las Vegas casino. Wembanyama stated that the security detail accompanying him swiftly intervened and pushed the pop star away.

Wembanyama explained that he was not initially aware that Spears was the person who grabbed him until several hours later, and he never actually saw her during the incident.

On the other hand, Spears, who filed a report with the Las Vegas police, took to Twitter and Instagram to express her embarrassment over the encounter. She denied grabbing Wembanyama, claiming that she had simply tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.

The rookie stated, “Something did happen when I was walking with the team’s security to the restaurant. We were in a crowded hall, and people were calling out to me. There was one person who called me, but I had already spoken to the security team.”

Wembanyama clarified, “I couldn’t stop. That person was calling me, ‘Sir, sir,’ and they grabbed me from behind. Since I was walking straight and didn’t stop, I didn’t see what happened. The security team pushed that person away. I didn’t pause to look; I simply continued walking to enjoy a nice dinner.”

Spears claimed in her social media posts that she often gets swarmed by people, including that same night, but her security team did not resort to physical actions against any of them.

According to TMZ, which first reported the incident, Spears was in a group of four attempting to enter a restaurant for dinner. As she entered the casino, she was allegedly swarmed by fans. TMZ’s account of the encounter with Wembanyama aligned with Spears’ version of events. The website stated that she tapped him on the shoulder, resulting in a strike to her face and the dislodging of her glasses.

Wembanyama revealed that he was unaware of the situation garnering attention until the following day. He received calls and saw the news in the morning.

Wembanyama is set to make his NBA Summer League debut with the Spurs against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night in Las Vegas. He signed autographs for fans at the Aria on Wednesday night and did the same for a few onlookers as he arrived at a local high school for practice with the team on Thursday morning.
