A devastating fire engulfed a shopping mall located in the southwestern Pakistani metropolis of Karachi, resulting in the tragic loss of a minimum of 10 lives and causing injuries to over 20 individuals, as confirmed by local authorities and the police on Saturday.

This multi-story commercial complex, known as RJ Mall, is situated within a high-rise structure that also accommodates call centers and software companies.

Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui, the Mayor of Karachi, took to the platform formerly known as Twitter to announce that the fire had been successfully extinguished, and efforts to initiate a cooling process were already in progress.

The precise cause of this unfortunate fire incident remains unclear at this point.

It is worth noting that Karachi, being the capital of the southern Sindh province, has experienced similar incidents in the past. Just earlier this year in April, a fire erupted in a garment factory, claiming the lives of four brave firefighters. The blaze ultimately led to the structural collapse of the facility.

In another incident in August 2021, a chemical factory fire in the same city resulted in the unfortunate demise of at least 10 individuals. Regrettably, the most tragic of these incidents occurred when 260 people were trapped inside a garment factory during a fire outbreak, resulting in their untimely deaths.
