Nine More Women Sue Bill Cosby in Nevada Alleging Decades-Old Sexual Assaults

Bill Cosby faces additional lawsuits as nine more women come forward accusing him of sexual assault. The plaintiffs claim that Cosby exploited his “enormous power, fame, and prestige” to victimize them.

A federal lawsuit was filed in Nevada, asserting that between approximately 1979 and 1992, the women were individually drugged and assaulted in various locations such as homes, dressing rooms, hotels in Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe.

According to one woman’s account, Cosby, posing as her acting mentor, enticed her from New York to Nevada. Once in a hotel room, he drugged her with what he claimed was non-alcoholic sparkling cider and proceeded to rape her.

Cosby, known for his role in the “Cosby Show,” has now faced allegations of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment from over 60 women. He has consistently denied all allegations related to sexual crimes. He became the first celebrity to be tried and convicted during the #MeToo movement, serving nearly three years in a Pennsylvania state prison before his conviction was overturned by a higher court, leading to his release in 2021.

Earlier this year, a Los Angeles jury awarded $500,000 to a woman who claimed Cosby sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 16 in 1975.

The recent lawsuit in Nevada follows the enactment of a new law eliminating the two-year deadline for adults to file sexual abuse cases. Similar lawsuits have emerged in other states with “lookback laws.”

Lise-Lotte Lublin, one of the plaintiffs and a native of Nevada, had advocated for this legal change. She had previously accused Cosby of drugging her and raping her at a Las Vegas hotel in 1989.

The Big Big News respects the confidentiality of sexual assault survivors unless they choose to come forward publicly.

In a statement quoted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Lotte-Lublin expressed her fight for justice, saying, “For years, I have fought for survivors of sexual assault, and today is the first time I will be able to fight for myself. With the new law change, I now have the ability to take my assailant Bill Cosby to court. My journey has just begun, but I am grateful for this opportunity to find justice.”

In California, a former Playboy model also sued Cosby on June 1, alleging that he drugged and sexually assaulted her and another woman at his home in 1969. The lawsuit was filed under a new California law that suspends the statute of limitations on sex abuse claims.

In response to these legal developments, Cosby’s publicist, Andrew Wyatt, criticized such laws in a statement, accusing judges and lawmakers of allowing numerous civil suits to flood the courts, driven by the women’s desire for media attention and financial gain.

Wyatt declared that they would no longer permit these women to make unverified allegations against Cosby without scrutiny in both the court of public opinion and the courtroom.

In the recent lawsuit, the women assert that Cosby used his immense power, fame, and influence, feigning interest in assisting them and their careers, as a means to isolate and sexually assault them.
