Lori Vallow Daybell Denies Arizona Conspiracy Charges Following Idaho Conviction

Lori Vallow Daybell, already serving a life sentence in Idaho for the murder of her two youngest children and another woman, has entered a plea of not guilty in an Arizona court to the charges of plotting to murder her estranged husband and the former spouse of her niece.

Appearing in a Phoenix state court for a brief arraignment that lasted five minutes, Vallow Daybell, clad in a standard orange prison outfit, confirmed her identity and birthdate as requested by the judge. Her trial in this case is set for April 4.

Keith Terry, the legal representative for Vallow Daybell, refrained from commenting on the case following the arraignment.

Back in 2019, Vallow Daybell resided in a suburb of Phoenix with her children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, aged 7, and Tylee Ryan, who was 16 at the time. She was separated from Charles Vallow, her fourth husband. In his divorce documents, Charles had expressed concerns about Vallow Daybell’s mental state, alleging she believed herself to be a divine figure destined to play a role in the end times.

That same year, Charles Vallow was fatally shot by Alex Cox, Vallow Daybell’s brother. Cox claimed self-defense, and no charges were filed against him. He passed away later that year, with the cause of death deemed natural by authorities.

Following Charles Vallow’s death, Vallow Daybell and her children relocated to Idaho. Prosecutors allege this move was to be closer to Chad Daybell, her then-boyfriend. They suspect the couple conspired to eliminate anyone they saw as an impediment to their relationship.

Chad Daybell faces charges in the murders of Vallow Daybell’s children and his own late wife. He has also pleaded not guilty and awaits his trial.

In the weeks following the move, Vallow Daybell’s children went missing. Suspicion arose when Chad Daybell’s wife, Tammy Daybell, suddenly died, initially thought to be from natural causes. However, after Lori Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell quickly married, authorities re-evaluated Tammy Daybell’s death and concluded she had been suffocated.

Concerns from extended family members about the missing children led to a comprehensive interstate investigation. The children’s remains were eventually discovered on Chad Daybell’s property.

In a related incident, Brandon Boudreaux, the recent ex-husband of Vallow Daybell’s niece, reported an attempted shooting. He identified a Jeep involved in the incident, which matched the description of a vehicle previously owned by Charles Vallow.
