Israeli military says Gaza ground offensive has expanded into urban refugee camps

The Israeli military has extended its ground offensive to include urban refugee camps in central Gaza, particularly impacting areas such as the Nuseirat, Maghazi, and Bureij camps. This expansion follows intensive bombardments and evacuation orders in these densely populated Palestinian communities.

Gaza’s main telecom provider has reported a complete interruption of services in the territory. This disruption in telecommunications is a direct result of the ongoing military operations and bombardments in the area.

The international community, including the United States, has expressed concern over the escalating conflict, particularly regarding civilian casualties. Despite calls for Israel to minimize civilian harm and pressure for a ceasefire, the Israeli government has continued its military operations.

The Health Ministry in Gaza has reported over 20,900 Palestinian casualties, with a significant proportion being women and children. This count includes deaths from the recent 24-hour period of conflict. Additionally, there has been extensive damage to infrastructure and homes, exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the region.

Hamas, which governs Gaza, has indicated openness to various international proposals aimed at resolving the conflict. These include initiatives for a full ceasefire and the establishment of a transitional Palestinian government covering both Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
