Matthew Perry, known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on NBC’s sitcom “Friends,” was mourned extensively over the weekend by an array of individuals, including close friends, former colleagues, and several high-profile admirers such as his elementary school classmate, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau; Morgan Fairchild, who portrayed his mother on “Friends”; and the international singer Adele.

Perry was discovered deceased at his residence in Los Angeles this past Saturday at the age of 54.

Perry’s family also released a statement to People Magazine, articulating their devastation. “Matthew gave immeasurable joy to the world, both through his performances and his friendships,” the family conveyed. “His impact on all of you was deeply meaningful to him, and we are grateful for the overwhelming influx of affection.”

A range of individuals, some who knew Perry personally and others who admired him from afar, utilized social media platforms to share their sorrow.

Justin Trudeau, who was once a classmate of Perry while their parents were professional associates, posted a tribute on the platform formerly known as Twitter, noting Perry’s absence would be felt deeply.

Adele took time during her performance in Las Vegas to reflect on Perry’s influence, indicating that although they had never met, the void felt upon his passing was personal. “I want to acknowledge the immense joy he provided us with,” she told her enthusiastic audience.

The comedy show Saturday Night Live displayed a tribute card to Perry during its latest episode. Perry had previously hosted the show in 1997, where he participated in a sketch impersonating Matt LeBlanc’s character, Joey, alongside Colin Quinn as Chandler.

Morgan Fairchild, who portrayed Chandler Bing’s mother on the show, lamented the premature demise of her ‘on-screen son’ in a social media post. “This loss is shocking. I extend my deepest sympathies and love to his family and friends, particularly his father,” she wrote.

Maggie Wheeler, another recurrent co-star on “Friends,” who played Janice, his girlfriend on the series, stated, “The joy you disseminated during your brief existence will endure. I consider myself fortunate for every creative interaction we had.”

Among other actors who mourned Perry’s passing was Selma Blair, who stated that she was “heartbroken,” describing Perry as her “oldest male friend.”

Wendell Pierce, Perry’s co-star on “The Odd Couple,” noted that Perry was his employer, co-worker, and a benevolent and humorous individual. “My hopes are that he has found tranquility,” Pierce wrote.

Shannen Doherty shared her memories of a longstanding friendship with Perry that included a casual date on Valentine’s Day and regular hangouts. “We supported one another and had a blast. I am currently grappling with shock and sorrow,” she expressed.

Gwyneth Paltrow reminisced about her interactions with Perry during the summer of 1993 at the Williamstown Theater Festival. “It was a summer to remember, and today I find myself steeped in sorrow. My wish is that Matthew has finally found peace,” she shared.
