Broccoli Cheddar Soup might be contaminated with insects and Falafel possibly tainted with rocks, the retailer reports by Chloe Baker July 29, 2023 written by Chloe Baker July 29, 2023 7 comments Bookmark 36 Trader Joe’s has recently announced another recall, this time for a batch of Broccoli Cheddar Soup that may be contaminated with insects and prepared falafel that could contain rocks. This follows close on the heels of a recall just a week ago of two types of cookies for related issues. The affected soup is Trader Joe’s Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup, with “Use By” dates from July 18 to September 15, as per the company’s announcement on Thursday. The following day, Trader Joe’s revealed that its Fully Cooked Falafel, available in 35 states and Washington D.C., was also under recall. On July 21, the grocery chain announced recalls for its Almond Windmill Cookies and Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, with “sell by” dates from October 17 to October 21. Similar to the falafel, these cookies might contain rocks, as stated by the company. In response to inquiries about how these foreign materials could have ended up in their products, a representative from Trader Joe’s clarified that the problem arose from the production processes at their facilities. The company was informed about the potential contamination by their suppliers, according to the company’s statement. “We removed the items from our stores as soon as we were alerted to the problem. After identifying the issue, we immediately notified our customers,” explained the spokesperson in a statement issued to The Big Big News on Saturday. Trader Joe’s assured that all the recalled items, including cookies, soup, and falafel, have been withdrawn from sale or disposed of. However, the Monrovia, California-based company still advises consumers to inspect their pantries for the affected products. Customers who have the recalled items are encouraged to discard them or return them to any Trader Joe’s store for a full refund. Detailed information about the recalled products, including lot codes, and customer service contacts can be found on the company’s website. Trader Joe’s didn’t provide specific numbers of impacted products for each recall or name the suppliers involved. However, NBC News has cited a Food and Drug Administration notice indicating that approximately 10,889 cases of Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup sold in seven states are affected by the recall. Winter Gardens Quality Foods, Inc. was identified as the recalling entity in the notice. As of Saturday, no official announcements about these three recalls were listed on the FDA’s Recalls, Market Withdrawals, & Safety Alerts page. The Big Big News sought additional information from the FDA and Winter Gardens Quality Foods on Saturday. “We maintain a strong partnership with our suppliers who notified us about these problems. We don’t wait for instructions from regulatory bodies but act proactively,” said the Trader Joe’s representative. “We will never compromise on the safety of the products we provide.” Table of Contents Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Trader Joe’s recallWhat products are included in the latest Trader Joe’s recall? When are the “Use By” dates for the recalled products? What was the reason for the recall? What should customers do if they have the recalled products? How did the foreign materials end up in the products?Have all the recalled products been removed from the stores? How many products were impacted by the Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup recall? How can customers get more information about the recalled products?More about Trader Joe’s recall Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Trader Joe’s recall What products are included in the latest Trader Joe’s recall?
