Yemen is a country located in Western Asia at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders Saudi Arabia to the north, Oman to the east and Red Sea to its west. The total area of Yemen is 527,970 km2 (203,850 sq mi). Its population was estimated at 28 million in 2019, making it the Arab World’s poorest yet most populous state.

Yemen has three distinct climatic zones: temperate climate on its western highlands; dry desert climate in parts of central and eastern regions; hot semi-arid conditions along coastal areas near Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean coasts as well as humid tropical monsoonal weather patterns occurring from May through September over much of southwestern coastlines facing towards Africa with influence from Somali jetstream winds off East African coastline .

The modern Republic of Yemen was formed after unification between North Yemen (the Yemeni Arab Republic) which gained independence following collapse Ottoman Empire rule during WWI ,and South Yemen (People’s Democratic Republic Of Yemend )which achieved independence from British colonial rule during 1967 .Unification occurred when two governments merged into one unified State known today as “Republic Of yemen” since 1990 under President Ali Abdullah Saleh who ruled until 2011 before he resigned amidst political upheaval caused by popular pro democracy revolution led by youth activists demanding freedom ,equality&justice for all citizens regardless their social class or origin within framework city rights & economic reforms advocated by United Nations Development Program(UNDP)in 2013. Since then government went through various stages leading up till present day where president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi currently rules while Houthi rebels occupying capital Sanaa are engaged in negotiations mediated internationally UNSCR 2216 resolution aiming reach peaceful settlement ending years long civil war affecting civilians throughout whole nation especially those living northern provinces suffering effects military aggression imposed upon them both parties involved conflict first starting March 2015 right now ongoing armed confrontation reached stalemate situation causing humanitarian crisis resulting severe famine poverty displacement millions children denied access basic needs such education due lack security preventing aid groups delivering relief materials needed help alleviate suffering inflicted civilian populations across many cities rural townships worst hit offensive operations carried out factions fighting each other

Despite ongoing instability resulting effect Civil War that began year 2015 efforts made international community bring peace stability back land lead launching Stockholm Agreement 2018 brokered Sweden bringing together representatives government loyalists alongside members opposition so come common understanding future governance structure heading forward but unfortunately failed implement process stalled few months later when agreement broken related developments ensued plunging region further chaos violence pushing thousands people migrate neighbouring countries seek better life opportunities abroad
