Wisconsin Badgers football by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 47 The Wisconsin Badgers football team is the intercollegiate American football program for the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The Badgers compete in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) as a member of the Big Ten Conference, and have played their home games at Camp Randall Stadium since 1895. As of 2019, they are led by head coach Paul Chryst. Wisconsin has had two Heisman Trophy winners: Alan Ameche in 1954 and Ron Dayne in 1999. They won back-to-back Rose Bowls under Barry Alvarez; winning 28 straight games from 1993 to 1998 which included three consecutive Big Ten championships (1993–1995). Since then, they have reached seven bowl games including four consecutive New Year’s Six bowls between 2010 and 2013—all with Alvarez as coach before Gary Andersen took over after 2012 season—winning each game except one against Stanford during that period; additionally having successful seasons such as 2016 when they went 11–3 while reaching another Rose Bowl Game victory where freshman running back Jonathan Taylor became only first true freshman to reach 1,900 rushing yards on top of being an All-American selection his rookie year. After Andersen left following 2015 season for Oregon State job Pat Fitzgerald was expected to be hired but he chose Northwestern instead so former Utah State Aggies head coach Matt Wells was named new leader taking charge on December 2nd 2018 achieving 7 wins out or 14 total matches coached within regular season plus Alamo Bowl win leaving 8–5 record overall for first year tenure setting high expectations about what could come next making him second fastest active FBS coaches winning percentage wise behind Dabo Swinney & Clemson Tigers going 9/10 instead 10/14 like it happened here with UW Madison squad who got 2020 Holiday bowl invitation too soon afterwards due COVID pandemic interrupting further progress this time around yet still managing good results even though many starters departed opting NFL draft earlier than normal hoping turn pro dreams into reality now upon 2021 edition its uncertain if current staff will remain same however most likely changes wont affect much bringing more success down road thanks strong foundation already built through recent years making them perennial powerhouse once again despite any unfortunate circumstances coming up ahead especially difficult ones facing college gridiron world wide right now amidst rapidly changing landscape we’ll all find out truth shortly enough stay tuned!
