The Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team is the intercollegiate men’s basketball program representing the University of Virginia. The school competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in Division I of the NCAA and play home games at John Paul Jones Arena on UVA Grounds in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Team History
The Cavaliers began competing intercollegially during 1905–1906 under head coach Oliver Pardee and were members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association for several years before joining its current conference, then known as the Eastern 8 or “Big Eight”—now called ACC—in 1953–54 season. Since that time they have won one National Championship (2019), six regular-season titles, three tournament championships and ten outright Big East/ACC Regular Season Championships. They are also one of four original Division I teams to net 1,000 wins since college sports started tracking such figures in 1985-86; with a record currently standing at 1,126 victories through March 2021..
UVA has made sixteen appearances total in NCAA tournaments including two Final Four appearances where they lost by less than 10 points each game: 2000 versus Michigan State University who went on to win it all that year; 2019 against Auburn University which ended up being their victory run towards becoming national champions! UVA was ranked number one overall after defeating Texas Tech 85-77 for title honors last April 6th., 2019 making them only third school from ACC ever achieve this feat behind Duke & North Carolina respectively .
