United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country located in the southeastern region of the Arabian Peninsula, on the Persian Gulf. It consists of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain. The UAE was formed in 1971 when six of these emirates joined together to form an independent state; later that year they were joined by Ras Al Khaimah which completed its union with them in 1972.

Since then it has grown to become one of the most prosperous countries in the Middle East thanks to its vast oil reserves and strategic location at a major crossroads between Europe and Asia.
