Tyre Nichols

Tyre Nichols (born April 19, 1989) is an American entrepreneur and investor from the United States. He is best known for his investments in Silicon Valley startups such as Lyft and Dropbox, as well as his philanthropic work with various health care organizations. As a successful young entrepreneur, he has been featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 list of influential entrepreneurs in 2020.

Early life and education

Nichols was born in Dallas, Texas to two teachers. He attended Southern Methodist University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration followed by an MBA at Stanford Graduate School of Business. During college and postgraduate studies Tyre worked part-time roles at multiple companies including IBM Watson Health & Microsoft AI Platform teams; eventually discovering his passion early stage technology investing while working at venture capital firms Upfront Ventures & Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers respectively during the summers leading up to graduation from SMU & Stanford GSB .

Career
After graduating from Stanford GSB , Tyre joined TPG Growth , one of the largest private equity funds globally ; spending more than 5 years there focusing primarily on healthcare investments before transitioning full time into angel investing backed by prominent investors like Mark Cuban . Since then , Tyre has invested across different industries ranging from EdTech (Quizlet) to FinTech (Stash )to Real Estate Tech (Knock ). In total , he’s made over 50 direct investments into mostly seed / pre-seed stage startups till date .

Philanthropy

In addition to being involved actively with startup ecosystems around world through Angel Investing ; Tyre also makes strategic impact focused donations towards non profits mainly around health / wellness initiatives especially those related cancer research since it affects many close family members/friends personally – having co founded The Pink Fund which supports breast cancer patients financially with their day2day expenses apart from donating regularly towards St Jude Children’s Research Hospital among several other charitable causes supported throughout year via personal giving circles or foundations managed jointly between himself & few select friends/family members aimed to make positive social change happen faster geographically distributed over US but also outside US borders too !
