TV by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 79 Television (TV) is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting moving images in monochrome, color, or in three dimensions. The term can refer to a television set, a television program (“TV show”), or the medium of television transmission. Television is one of the major mass media of the world and has had an immense impact on popular culture and society since its inception. History The idea for creating TV was first proposed by Paul Nipkow in 1884 when he patented his “electric telescope.” However it wasn’t until 1926 that John Logie Baird demonstrated working mechanical-electronic systems which could broadcast pictures with sound over short distances using radio waves. This technology was further developed during World War II as part of radar research projects; leading to what we know today as modern day televisions. Technology Modern-day TVs are now digital devices utilizing LCDs (liquid crystal displays), LEDs (light emitting diodes), PDPs (plasma display panels) and OLEDs(organic light emitting diode). Picture quality ranges from standard definition up to ultra high definition screens providing extremely sharp images through increased pixel densities per inch squared – known as 4K resolution! Audio also uses sophisticated techniques such as Dolby Digital Surround Sound allowing viewers an immersive experience whilst watching their favorite shows/movies at home or on the go via streaming services like Netflix etc.. Broadcasting Broadcasting networks transmit programming content both nationally and internationally primarily via satellite dishes but also through cable distribution systems depending upon regional availability within countries worldwide . These networks provide everything from news bulletins right up to drama series , reality tv shows & sports events all ready for audiences across multiple platforms including traditional linear broadcasting & online streaming services available anytime anywhere! With advancements being made into 3D viewing too…the future looks bright indeed !
