Toronto Blue Jays by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 66 The Toronto Blue Jays are a professional baseball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The team competes in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League East division. The Blue Jays play their home games at Rogers Centre, formerly known as SkyDome. Team history: The Blue Jays were founded on October 8th 1976 when they became one of two expansion teams to join the American League that year alongside the Seattle Mariners. They began playing competitively during their inaugural season in 1977 and quickly established themselves as an exciting young team with big expectations for future success; this expectation was met soon after when they won back-to-back World Series championships in 1992 and 1993 – making them only the second MLB franchise to do so outside of New York City’s Yankees or Mets franchises since 1958. Despite struggling through much of last decade, recent investments from ownership have seen significant improvements made both on & off field which has bolstered fan optimism heading into 2021’s campaign.
